Terms of use
The rules for using this site, and what you can do with the stories and artwork on it.
Last updated 4 November 2026
About these terms
These terms apply to your use of jeromemccavewrites.com (the “site”), which is run by Jerome A. McCave, an author based in England, United Kingdom (“I”, “me”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
The privacy policy and cookie policy explain how I handle personal data and browser storage, and form part of these terms.
You can contact me at inquiries@jeromemccavewrites.com or through the contact form.
Using the site
You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:
- use it in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone’s rights;
- try to gain unauthorised access to it, its servers or the services behind its forms, or interfere with how it works;
- send spam, malicious code or abusive, threatening or unlawful content through the forms;
- scrape, copy or harvest its content in bulk, including to train, fine-tune or test artificial intelligence or machine learning systems.
Copyright and the stories
The stories, excerpts, characters, worlds, cover art, illustrations and text on this site are © Jerome A. McCave and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. That includes, among others, Excursion Through Time, Project Aegis, KEON: The Boy With the Black Flame and the Caribbean folklore stories, and the characters and places in them.
You are welcome to:
- read the site and the published excerpt, and download the excerpt PDF for your own reading;
- share links to any page;
- quote short passages for review, criticism or news reporting, with credit to Jerome A. McCave;
- use the images in the press kit as described there.
Anything else, such as republishing the excerpt, adapting the stories or characters, or using the artwork, needs my written permission. Ask me; I’m glad to hear from you.
Some photographs on the site belong to other people and are used under the licences named in their captions and in the footer, such as Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Those licences, not these terms, govern your use of those photographs.
Story ideas and manuscripts
I love hearing from readers, but I can’t accept unsolicited story ideas, pitches or manuscripts, and please don’t send them. If you do, I am under no obligation to read, keep confidential, use or pay for them, and my own work may resemble something you sent without any connection to it. Rights, representation and publishing enquiries are welcome through the contact form.
The mailing list
Joining the waitlist or mailing list is free and optional. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click. Release dates and plans described on the site and in emails are my current intentions, not promises; the books are works in progress and their content, titles and timing may change before publication.
Other websites
The site links to other websites, such as Instagram, TikTok and the sources of credited photographs. I don’t control them and I’m not responsible for their content or how they handle your data. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Availability and changes
The site is free to use and is provided as it is. I may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time, and I don’t promise that it will always be available or free of errors. I take reasonable care to keep the information accurate, but it is for general interest and should not be relied on as advice.
My responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, I am responsible only for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of my breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. I am not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses, as the site is for personal, non-commercial use.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in the courts there.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time, and the date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. The version on the site when you use it is the one that applies.
